CMS RUSSELL CHARLES MOORE On December 2, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, Dad passed away at the age of 75. He leaves to mourn his two sons Ricky Lee Moore (Sharon), Michael Shane Moore (Estelle) and grandchildren, Sara (Rob), Whitney, Garrett (Samantha), Stacy, Carly, and great-granddaughter Lillian, all of Winnipeg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with his favourite brother Ron and family of Vancouver, BC. Dad was predeceased by his father Reginald, mother Hazel, and his brothers, Arthur and Clarence. Dad was a very proud Korean and Middle East veteran. He retired as a decorated member of P.P.C.L.I, formally Queens Own Rifles. He joined the Canadian Forces at the age of 17 and his entire life was dedicated to serving his country. During his career he was stationed in Germany, Cyprus and many other posting throughout Canada. One of his proudest career milestones was serving as a Pistol Rifle Instructor at the Royal Military College in Kingston, ON. Dad was a true advocate for veterans rights and supported many soldiers in filing appeals for pensions they would otherwise not have known about. He was a very private man, who cherished his time at Crescent Cove and the tranquil life he made for himself at his cottage. Dad always looked forward to this time of year as he planned his traditional Boxing Day breakfast with his family. Even during his illness he maintained his quirky sense of humour and a wink in his eye for his grandchildren. Cremation has already taken place and a family memorial and graveside interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dad's memory to a charity of your choice or alternatively perform a random act of kindness for those less fortunate. The family would like to thank the staff at Dauphin General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit for all their care and attention given to Dad during this difficult time. If tears could make a staircase and heartaches make a lane we'd walk a path to Heaven and bring you home again. Until we meet again; forever in our hearts, your loving family. 204-782-3541 www.kilcollinscremationservice.co
